"A New Passage to India"

Program terminated (Funding period was October 2010 to July 2016)

The idea of the mobility program within the DAAD-initiative „A New Passage to India“ (funded by the BMBF) is to enhance contacts between students and doctoral researchers at particular German universities and at their respective Indian partner institutions. The University of Würzburg was awarded resources to build competence by sending German students and doctoral researchers from all areas of studies and research to our partner institutions in India. In addition, funds also exist to support stays of Indian doctoral researchers from our partner institutions at the University of Würzburg (may not be available at all partner institutions). The respective fellowships are awarded by our partners in India.

The Indian partner institutions within the program are

German Applicants: Please see here.

Indian Applicants: Do not apply at the University of Würzburg! If you are a PhD student at any of the Indian institutions listed above, please refer to the office dealing with international relations at your institution to inquire about opportunities and procedures.

Fellowships can in principle be awarded for

  • research stays of 2 months in the context of a PhD thesis project

Benefits comprise

  • Fellowships for 2 months (1000 €/month)
  • Travel subsidy (525 € once per stay)
  • Subsidy for health insurance in Germany (60 €/month)

Funds are currently available until 31 July 2016.

Language requirements

Fluency in oral and written English is necessary and sufficient for research stays. Stays involving the participation in lectures and seminars usually require fluency in oral and written German, as almost all study programs are taught in German.
